Who We Are

The school of microfinance and enterprise development (SMED) is a businessdevelopment service provider (BDSP), providing a variety of intervention support services aimed to build entrepreneurship skills, management capacity and competencies of business enterprise owners, the unemployed (youth, women and the vast majority of) vulnerable poor segment of the population segment. We provide business development support services including business training services, business clinics/mentoring and coaching support and other technical assistance and consultancy services.

SMED’s focuses on creating critical mass of knowledge, engagement in productive economic activities, empowerment of low-income groups, employ- ment generation for the poor, the youth segment and other vulnerable groups as well as robust linkage services for MSMEs to access to finance, markets and other ecosystem players with the aim to build flourishing and sustainable enterprises to optimize natural resource and non – natural resource sectors at their disposal.

As a critical part of our intervention, we deliver entrepreneurship and life skill training interventions designed to end poverty through improved access to livelihood opportunities for targeted beneficiaries.

 

To drive the desirable remediation solution, best environmental sustainability, gender main-streaming practices and a bouquet of business development services blending training delivery process with mentoring/coaching the low income and MSMEs to develop flourishing and sustainable enterprises.

 

The training curriculum encompasses a blend of in-class and outline training modules designed and delivered with an end-to-end integrated approach to address mirage of crippling challenges constraining MSMEs. Invariably, this contributes to build their capacities to achieve food security, strengthen access to markets, improved livelihood and ultimately,
